Tuinkwartier – Living between the city and nature on Strandeiland
On Strandeiland, part of the vibrant IJburg district, Tuinkwartier is taking shape: a new, green residential area where tranquillity, space and urban vibrancy come together. Here, you’ll live in a low-traffic neighbourhood with a strong focus on nature and quality of life, whilst the centre of Amsterdam is surprisingly close by.
Tuinkwartier comprises around 350 sustainable, energy-neutral homes in a varied mix of owner-occupied and rental properties. The homes are spacious and offer flexible layouts, catering to a range of living needs – from singles and couples to families.
What makes Tuinkwartier special is the balance between housing and living. The neighbourhood will feature green, nature-inclusive courtyards and plenty of space for socialising, relaxation and play. Thanks to its low-traffic character, a safe and relaxed living environment is created where daily life largely takes place outdoors.
Sustainability plays a central role in the design. The project utilises recycled materials, solar panels and smart mobility solutions, amongst other things. This creates a future-proof neighbourhood that cares for both people and nature.
Furthermore, the location offers the best of both worlds. You hardly need to leave the neighbourhood for daily amenities, restaurants and leisure activities. At the same time, you can reach the heart of Amsterdam in no time by bike or the IJtram. Accessibility by car to other cities is also excellent.
Tuinkwartier is a place to live and thrive – in an environment where nature, comfort and city life come together seamlessly.
