Aan het IJ has a lot to offer.
Aan het IJ will be a green and lively neighborhood on the Schegpark. The existing spaciousness and greenery are the starting point. The new streets will be expansive, trees and plants have been carefully chosen and there is room for beautiful, green parks.
Each building in the new Aan het IJ district will have its own courtyard garden, in a style and atmosphere that matches the architecture of the building. And because each building clearly has its own qualities, the atmosphere of the courtyard garden will be different everywhere. Buro Sant en Co is the force behind the various landscape designs. For example, the planting in the courtyard garden of The Wave is very diverse: striking are the coarse pines and the presence of gravel and natural stone. The vegetation in The Grid’s courtyard garden is also varied, creating a natural and rugged look. The garden of The Twins is a kind of green valley with a variety of trees, a special plant texture and water surfaces that catch a lot of light and reflect the air. The location in the neighborhood and the atmosphere of the courtyard garden of course also determine the view from your balcony or terrace
Noord is known for the NDSM wharf, the Nederlandse Dok and the Scheepsbouw Maatschappij (Ship-building Society). Over the years, heavy industry disappeared and space was created. Space became scarcer in the rest of the city. The creative scene discovered the site. Creative spots were created and trendy restaurants, bars and festivals emerged. Not surprising, because the location on the IJ overlooking the city is unique. As the demand for housing increased, it was only logical that this was the perfect location for modern new construction with international allure.
